How to Make Cinnamon Sugar Doughnuts

Prepare Yeast:  Dissolve 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast in 1/4 cup warm milk. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.

Mix Wet Ingredients:  In a large bowl, blend 1/4 cup granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons melted butter, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla.

Combine:  Add the yeast mixture to the wet ingredients and mix.

Dry Ingredients:  In another bowl, whisk 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour with 1/4 teaspoon salt.

Form Dough:  Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mix, stirring until a dough forms. Adjust flour as needed.

Knead:  On a floured surface, knead the dough for 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Shape Doughnuts:  Roll out dough and cut out doughnut shapes using a cutter or round glasses.

Fry:  Heat 2-3 inches of oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry doughnuts for 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown.
